Title: Bradley Cooper
My piece depicts an up close portrait of Bradley Cooper. He has a serious face though a little smirk in the picture I was looking at but its not really clear in my piece. The most obvious element is value. The most obvious principle is contrast.
To create this piece I first made a grid which helped me proportion the face. Then, I lightly drew the outline of the face and made sure everything looked correct. After, I began to shade and add details. Lastly, I added hair and darkened the areas that needed to be darker.
My inspiration for this piece was drawing Bradley Cooper because I really like his movies and I also think he looks really good. I don't really know the emotion I was trying to convey though his face is serious with a smirk.
My goal as an artist was to make it really look like Bradley Cooper and doing good on the hair since I have never really drawn hair before. I didn't really reach my goal because it doesn't exactly look like Bradley and the hair it not the best.
By creating this piece I learned to look over the outlines and make sure it really looks like the person. I regret shading as soon as I did because I couldn't change things like I wanted to. Overall I didn't really like this piece because it doesn't look like Bradley Cooper. I will use what I learned on this piece for future works because it will really help me achieve the goal I want and make my drawings to more like the person.
Title: Greece
My piece is of houses in line along the water. The houses are very colorful and have colorful reflections in the water. I did impressionism in the water with thin short brush strokes. The first house is closer than the last. Line and movement are shown in my piece.
I created my piece by first drawing out four different stretches of the houses then chose the one I liked the most. After drawing the one I liked on the canvas I began to paint with acrylic paint. I used different sized brushes willing painting.
I chose to do impressionism after Van Gogh's painting Starry Night. I also chose to do house in Greece because its a beautiful place I would love to visit one day.
My goal in doing this piece was to make it colorful and to try out a new style. I achieved making it colorful but It didn't exactly turn out how I wanted it to.
In making this piece I learned the process of doing impressionism. The final piece did not turn out exactly how I wanted it and I'm not really impressed with what I did because it looks like a little kids piece of artwork. This piece doesn't look challenging at all though it took a very long time.

Title: Monkey bracelet holder
My piece is a monkey which is sitting down with its arms out and tail up so it can hold bracelets and jewelry. The monkey is made of paper mache and is blue with colorful designs on it. An element I used is color while a principle is patterns. I created colorful patterns on my piece which consisted of flowers, dots, and spics.
To create my piece I first drew a sketch of how I wanted my piece to look and found what I was going to use to build it. I first started by making the arms and tail with wires then attached it to a toilet paper roll. I then put a rock on the inside to weigh it down. I began to add newspaper to make the shape. After I got the shape I wanted I applied paper mache then painted it.
My inspiration for my piece was to make something useful rather than just a sculpture. I decided to make the monkey a jewelry holder because I have a lot of bracelets with no where to put them so I got this idea.
My main goal was for the piece to be sturdy enough to hold bracelets and not fall which I did achieve but I wish it looked a little bit better than it does.
Overall this piece didn't turn out that bad. I honestly didn't think I was going to be able to put bracelets on it. This piece will influence my future work because I now know that its good to draw out your plan and to think it through. Planning your projects out will help a lot and will prevent problems during the project.

Title: The Hand
This piece is a drawing of a hand which some what looks like it has a cramp but was not intended to. The hand is in the lower right corner of a tannish paper. The had has the middle two fingers bent while the other are not which looks like its going to grab something. The hand begins to fad away at the wrist. An element I used is value as there is different shades of the skin with highlights. A principle I used is contrast as there are dark and light areas.
To create this piece I used prismas. I first started by choosing the hand position then sketched it. I then used the prismas process and started with the heavy highlights. After I used light whites and colors, then begin to add the dark colors. When I was finished with the colors I burnished with a colorless blender and a lighter skin tone color.
I was inspired by Wanjin Gim when I created this piece. He creates realistic anatomical drawings. My piece does not exactly express anything as I was focused on the technique.
My goal in this piece was a create a realistic anatomical drawing of a hand. I also wanted to learn to use prismas. This piece help me to reach the goal of learning to use prismas though I still have a lot of room for improvement when using them.
Overall, I learned to draw a hand I while creating this piece as this is the first time ever drawing one. I feel that I could have done a lot better on my piece. I feel my piece is very boring and I wish I would have done it a little differently.

Title: Prince
My piece is a non realistic portrait of Prince. In creating this piece I wanted to imitate Justin BUA. I created Princes lips big to show exaggeration and used purple rain falling to show foreshortening. An obvious element used in my piece is texture and the principle of design is pattern which helped me create texture.
To create my piece I began by getting the idea of what I wanted to create then trying to be exaggeration and foreshortening into the piece. After having my idea I began with my background and worked my way to the center of the piece. I used acrylic paint when doing my piece.
My piece was inspired by Justin Bua. I don't exactly have a reason as to why I chose to paint Prince except that I like him and his music. The purple rain drop did symbolize Prince and his music.
My goal when creating this piece was to create a caricature of Prince that included exaggeration and foreshortening. I also wanted to become better using acrylic paint which I somewhat accomplished. I do feel I accomplished the use of exaggeration in my piece and foreshortening though it may not be as noticeable.
In creating this piece I learned that when using acrylic on faces it will help a lot if the paint is wet. I feel that this will help me in the future using paint. My piece is not exactly what I wanted due to me not being very good using acrylic paint.

Title: Lantern
My piece is a sphere lantern made to put a candle in the bottom. There are hole all over the lantern. The lantern is made from clay and is a form and function as is can be used. An element I used in my piece is shape which created the principle pattern.
The media of my piece is clay. The method I used to create my clay piece was the coil method. I started with a circle of slab then continued to add coils to form a sphere. I used a straw and toothpick to poke holes in the clay.
I was inspired by the native Indians as they were the first to create things out of clay. My piece does not express anything except it can be used as a lantern by putting a candle in it.
My goals in this piece were to create a lantern that can be useful and can be decorative. I feel that is will be able to use. I didn't achieve the goal of my piece looking good. I feel my piece looks boring and was too simple.
In creating this piece I learned to do the coil method and different techniques. My final piece is not what I imagined as it does not look good at all. I feel that I could have done a lot better though ran out of time. This piece will influence my future work by thinking about my process and what I will do to create my piece before starting.

Title: Post Malone
My artwork is a portrait of Post Malone with a yellow background. His name is also in the back along with one of his album names with cut outs from a magazine. The element most obvious is value which is created with the principle of contrast.
The media of my artwork is pencils, watercolor and cut outs from magazines. I used pencil for the portrait of Post Malone and watercolor for the background. When creating this piece started with the sketch of the face then added the wash for the background. After I began to add more details to the face then added the letters.
I wasn't really inspired by anyone to create a this piece and I chose to do a portrait because I really enjoy doing them. I chose Post Malone because I really enjoy his music. I did chose to do the back ground yellow because it looks like that Post Malone favorite color.
My goal as an artist is to grow and become better as an artist. I feel that this piece did not help me reach my goal because I feel like this is not a good piece.
I didn't really learn anything in creating this piece. The final piece is not what I imagined because I feel like this is the worst portrait I've done and I feel like I could have done a lot better though I never really got into the piece and like it. I wish I would have chose a different subject matter and had a better idea. This will influence me to create something I will enjoy to do next piece.
